As we look back at the first half of 2018, there have been some amazing moments in pop culture. One of the biggest was the second season of Donald Glover’s FX series Atlanta, which won fans and critics over with its unconventional storytelling and risky episodes like the downright creepfest known as “Teddy Perkins”.
Many still aren’t sure if Teddy and Benny were two separate people, and while he didn’t give up any secrets, frequent Donald Glover collaborator Hiro Murai did discuss the episode with IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. Murai’s a definite authority; he not only directed the Teddy Perkins episode, but has directed 14 of Atlanta’s 21 episodes. He also serves as executive producer on the series.
