Lakeith Stanfield Didn’t Know Donald Glover Was Teddy Perkins

As we look back at the first half of 2018, there have been some amazing moments in pop culture. One of the biggest was the second season of Donald Glover’s FX series Atlanta, which won fans and critics over with its unconventional storytelling and risky episodes like the downright creepfest known as “Teddy Perkins”.

Many still aren’t sure if Teddy and Benny were two separate people, and while he didn’t give up any secrets, frequent Donald Glover collaborator Hiro Murai did discuss the episode with IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. Murai’s a definite authority; he not only directed the Teddy Perkins episode, but has directed 14 of Atlanta’s 21 episodes. He also serves as executive producer on the series.

  1. don’t be so sure with this “best episode by far” stuff… woods was fucking amazing- i think i might like it just as much (if not more)

  2. The phrase “White Face” is not a thing!!!! Lol but yes I knew it was Donald. Btw he wasn’t playing a white Man, he was playing a black man with white skin like Michael Jackson

  3. Barbershop episode was the best especially the ending when he went in and sat down in the other barbers chair and dude asked him how he wanted it cut and he didn't even know so he was looking like FUCK I gotta let my regular guy hook my fade up lol he thought he was being funny but the joke was on him.
