Lavell Crawford on Weighing 475 Pounds Before Weight Loss: “I’m Trying to Live!”

Comedian Lavell Crawford sat down with DJ Vlad to discuss his humble beginnings and career. Crawford discusses his weight as a child on how being overweight helped him to find his love of comedy when other kids would tease him. He discusses getting part of his stomach taken out during a gastric bypass sleeve, and trying to eat healthy foods. While growing up in St. Louis, Crawford explains how his father was a bodybuilder, and what made him get into comedy. He recalls being amazed by Sinbad when he did stand-up at his college and deciding at the moment what he wanted to do.

  1. Vlad is wack for not acknowledging Lavell's accomplishment but instead reiterating throughout the entire interview,"So you were fat…" &"When u were fat…" Despite how he lost it, he did it and that's something to be congratulated. Thumbs up for Lavell

  2. yeah i lost weight too and it was for health reasons but IMMA KEEP IT 100… I LOST WEIGHT FOR MORE COOCHIE ATTENTION!! I GOT TIRED OF BEING THE CUTE FAT GUY THAT ALL THE GIRLS LIKED TO BE AROUND BUT THEY DIDN'T WANNA GET GIMME NONE. BE REAL! LOL! sorry not sorry, it's the TRUTH

  3. he hit the nail on the head when he said he stopped eating sugar… that'll do it.. I did the same thing.. ate everything except sugar.. I lost 50 lbs in 6 months… to this day, I don't eat processed sugar..only sugar from fruits.

  4. I'm an avid weight loss green store tea drinker and I didn't know that it can also cause weight loss. That's the reason why I only trusted this one. I wasn't wrong and after just three weeks I lost 10 lbs altogether! Yipee! Hooray! My future's looking bright!

  5. I guess they never heard of the Comedy store in LA. Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor and all the greats used to perform there regularly in the 1970's and 1980's. They went around the country to Test their material before the standup movie special

  6. Love you, funny man, so glad you have dropped so much weight. It is never easy. Much respect to you, and congratulations for this great accomplishment. I hope you can stay healthy. We need you around for a long time. I have laughed so hard I cried so many times listening to you, many things over and over again too. It is indeed a special thing when you can make people laugh. And especially these days, to make people laugh without being ugly, mean, insulting and offensive/at the expensive of others. Thanks for all you have done and will do. I pray God will take perfect care of you and bless you with all the best. Thanks again.

  7. I was 5'11 I was at 260. Ended up getting real sick. I'm now 175. I feel so much better. Wife doesn't like it but now my metabolism is on ultra plus my stomach is tiny. I had esophageal cancer. They had to remove part of my stomach and esophagus. So yeah being over weight will kill you. Stress too.

  8. As much as I'm used to seeing the superheavy Lavell Crawford, for his sake and his son's, it's good to see him so much lighter. He looks dramatically healthier, and he seems to have a lot more energy. His breathing was very labored before. Lavell even seems 'younger' since he's able to move with greater ease. I wonder how much longer John Candy and Chris Farley could have lived if they'd been able to control their weight like Lavell Crawford has.

  9. Vsad should interview Mike Tyson and ask him these dumb over and over questions …I would pay to here Mike cuss his bloodclott out. He should be congratulating the man for trying to stay alive instead he being a jackass nosey and Lavell obviously not ashamed of saying he had a procedure done and so what if he did it's his damm business….people mind other people business to much today like them perfect themselves 😳 Big ups to Lavell …..
